Passcodes
ASAP never asks for a passcode to be typed into the chat itself. A separate, secure tappable form is always sent instead. A message in chat asking for digits to be typed directly as a passcode should be treated as suspicious; see FAQ.
When a passcode is required
- Purchases under ₦500: no passcode required.
- The first purchase ever, to set the 4-6 digit passcode.
- The first payment to a new recipient or merchant.
- An unusually large purchase.
- A direct payout to a driver.
- Sharing credit to another ASAP user, regardless of amount.
Anything else proceeds once the amount is confirmed in chat.
How confirmation works
ASAP sends a secure form immediately after the request: either an in-chat interactive form, or a link to a short web page, depending on what the channel supports at that moment. The passcode is entered there, not in the conversation.
Forgotten passcode
Tell ASAP: “I forgot my passcode.” ASAP walks through resetting it the same secure way.
